Sergei Bubka, one of the all times great athletes, will come here in Bangladesh in next month as one of the guests of the National Athletics meet to be held in December, as the general secretary  of the Bangladesh Athletics Federation BAF) informed it yesterday in a press conference at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

The BAF is organising the 33rd National Junior Athletics Competition to be held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium from November 5-6 and this time the organizers are expecting 600 athletes (boys and girls) will take part in the national junior meet.

This time the competition will be organised at the own cost of the BAF with the budget was estimated for Taka 8,25000, as they did not manage any sponsors.

President of the BAF, ASM Ali Kabir informed the reporters that they tried hard to manage sponsors but failed when one of the corporate houses behaves badly what was dishonored for them.

However, in the two days meet 600 (expected) athletes will compete in 33 events of Under-19 girls and girls.

The BAAF president replying to a query said, “In meeting of the IAAF in London, I meet Bubka and proposed him to visit Bangladesh and he did not think twice to say ‘Yes’ and we fixed the schedule in December during our National Athletics Champions.”

President also said that not only Bubka but some of famous athletes from India and Sri Lanka will also gave their consent to come here while in March 2019, the president of the IAAF will visit in Nepal and also agreed to come Bangladesh when I had long time meeting with him in London.”
