Stocks saw upward trend yesterday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges rose with higher activities of some large-cap securities, reports BSS.
The rising major sectors were pharmaceutical and chemical, food and allied, IT, textile and fuel and power. A total of 159 large cap securities moved up on higher activities.
The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 23.34 points up at 6,019.59. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 5.72 points up at 1,316.25 and with 5.22 points up at 2,168.03.
The volume of shares increased to 15.78 crore from Monday’s 14.67 crore shares and the daily turnover in value at DSE rose to Tk 537.47 crore from Tk 509.63 of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 330 traded issues, price of 198 securities closed higher against 93 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Salvo Chemical, RD Food, INTECH, Zahin Textile and Power Grid. The major losing issues were SIBL, Prime Finance, Golden Son, Asia Pacific Insurance and Standard Ceramics. Lanka Bangla Finance topped the turnover leaders followed by BBS Cables, BRAC Bank, Aamra Net and City Bank.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 71.80 points up at 18,633.29.
At CSE, 238 issues were traded. Of those, 154 closed higher and 65 closed lower when 1.59 crore shares worth Tk 65.74 crore changed hands.
