Durjoy delighted to be an elected BCB director

Naimur Rahman Durjoy, MP, wanted to be elected through an election in Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and his desire came to true as he got joint highest 13 votes to be elected as one of the directors from Dhaka Division. Syed Ashfaqul Islam is another one who also bagged 13 votes to be elected from this region which had highest number of 18 councilors.

Many believed the election is the precursor for Durjoy, also an incumbent lawmaker in Manikganj constituency, for the national election as he has the desire to be the candidate from his area once again.

Throughout the day of the BCB election, Durjoy’s fan and the people of his area made the BCB premises festive with slogans and various activities. However as it was expected, he was elected without any fuss though couldn’t get highest vote solely.

“You can’t expect to get highest votes always. I got 13 votes from 18 which are not bad,” Durjoy said after he was declared winner by the election commission unofficially.

“I came in the BCB through election in the last time. This time I again entered here through election. I enjoy the election because it gives me different pleasure. So I always I wanted to come through election.”

Durjoy mulled of skipping BCB election considering the upcoming national election. “But the love towards cricket forced me to take part in the election. I am now very busy with the national election but I think still I could manage time to work for the betterment of the cricket. If the president wants me to come forward any activities for the betterment of the cricket, I’ll respond immediately,” the former skipper said.
