Mercury dips a little across country

People in several districts, including the capital, experienced a sudden drop in mercury yesterday, accompanied by a cloudy weather, which can as well be a knock at the winter’s door for this year. Rain and thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty winds were reported at a few places across the country due to the seasonal low lying over the south Bay extending its trough to the northeast Bay, prompting the Meteorological Department to ask all river ports to hoist danger single No. 1. The Met office had forecast a gloomy weather on Monday morning saying that the rain and thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty winds might occur over Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Khulna divisions.

The day temperature dropped by one-two degrees Celsius and night temperature remained nearly unchanged across the country yesterday.
