Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said yesterday that development of the blue economy would take the country's development to a new height, reports BSS. The minister was speaking at a meeting on 'oceanic architecture and coastal engineering' at city's Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University at Mirpur. He said along with digital technology blue economy had the potential to take the country to the peak of development. To realize the ocean's economic potential the country had to build adequate skilled manpower to secure and manage the ocean properly, tap its touristic potential, generate energy from wind and tidal sources, extract minerals and fish, accrete land in shallow waters, protect bio-diversity, keep the oceans free of pollution and combat climate change.
Recollecting the great sacrifice of the martyrs of Liberation War he said, "If you squeeze an inch of earth in Bangladesh you will find the blood of the martyrs dripping from it."
