Stressed out Rohingyas attack NGO workers

Five technicians of an NGO were injured after being attacked allegedly by Rohingya inside Balukhali camp in Ukhia upazila of Cox's Bazar Friday night, reports UNB. Additional Superintendent of Police (Ukhia Circle) Chailau Marma told UNB that nine technicians of Dhaka Based NGO named "Society for Social Technical Support" went to Cox's Bazar on October 25 to set up tubewell in Rohingya camps. After working in Teknaf, they went to Balukhali camp of Ukhia upazila on Friday evening, he said.

As they were supposed to start work of setting up tubewells on Saturday morning, they were sleeping in a tent beside a mosque of the camp area at night, AD SP Chailau said.

Suspecting miscreants, a group of Rohingya people stormed into the tent and attacked the NGO technicians around 12:00 am. Five of them were injured in the attack, while four others escaped the attack, he said.

Being informed, police rushed there and rescued them. They were admitted to local hospital.

Meanwhile, police detained two Rohingya miscreants along with two firearms with the help of Rohingya people from Balukhali camp area on Friday night, AD SP Chailau said.
