Silver jubilee celebrated at BOU

The Silver jubilee  was celebrated with various programmes at Bangladesh Open University in Gazipur on Thursday. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid spoke as the chief guest and participated in the rally. Later he addressed a discussion held at the conference room of the university. He said, in order to overcome the challenge of 21st century  and to take the country in the advanced world within 2041, the universities will have to come up with proper education.

The discussion was chaired by vice chancellor professor Dr MA Mannan while founder vice chancellor professor Dr M Shomsher Ali, former pro-VC professor Dr R.I.Sharif, pro-vice chancellor professor Dr Khondoker Mokaddem Hossain, treasurer professor Dr Ashfak Hossain spoke among  others.

8th annual butterfly fair at JU on Nov 3

Jahangirnagar University: The 8th annual butterfly fair will be held on November 3 on the premises of Zahir Raihan Auditorium on the university campus.

Zoology Department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) organised the fair. JU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. Farzana Islam is expected to inaugurate the fair at around 9 am.

The Zoology Department chalked out elaborate programmes, including drawing competition for children, photography exhibition, live butterfly display, butterfly -shape kite flying , butterfly race, debate competition and documentary exhibition on 'Butterfly and its Habitat'.

BAU admission test on November 4

Admission test for the first year honours course under 2017-18 academic session of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) will be held on November 4.

Students who obtained a total 9.67 points in SSC and HSC exam (without additional subjects) will vie for the admission test.

According to the admission committee sources, a total 12,212 from 25,000 applicants will vie for the admission test against 1200 seat under six faculties this year.

Philosophy conference at JU

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY: A two-day conference titled, "The Roots and Nature of Philosophy of Bengal", began at Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Wednesday.

JU Philosophy Department in association with Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) organised the conference at New Arts Building conference room.

JU Vice-chancellor Prof Farzana Islam inaugurated the conference as the chief guest at 10:00 am. Professor Aminul Islam of Philosophy department of Dhaka University presented a keynote paper on "The past and future condition of Bangladesh Philosophy"on the first day of the conference.

On the second day, a total of five keynote papers will be presented at the conference.
