Police recovered slit-throat body of a security guard in Truck Road area of the district town in the early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Delwar Prodhania, 50, a resident of Matlab south in the district.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Shamsunnar said a resident of Seba Ayesha
Garden building, where Delwar was working as a security guard, found the body inside guard's room and informed police about the matter.
A team of police led by Sub-inspector of Sadar Model Police Station Kamruzzaman rushed to the spot at around 10.30 am and recovered the body.
The body was sent it to Chandpur General Hospital morgue for an autopsy, the SP said.
But the reason behind the killing could not be known immediately. Delwar was hacked to death by unidentified assailants, said police.
The SP said a case was filed in this connection and an investigation is underway over the matter.
However, no one was arrested in connection with the killing.
Police said, a gang of criminals entered the building jumping over the boundary wall and attacked the security guard.
They gang killed Delwar and fled away with four motorbikes from the ground floor of the building.
