GAIBANDHA: Some 2.50 kilometers road at Gaibandha town would be turned into four-lane from two-lane to help the commuters movement smoothly and remove the traffic jam from the district town, reports BSS.
Roads and Highway Department (RHD) would implement the up gradation work of the 4-lane road which would be finished by 2019, RHD sources said.
Sub-divisional engineer of RHD Mahmud Al-Nur Salehin said 2.50 km road from DC office to Zero point of the district town would be turned into four-lane with 6-foot divider, drainage and pavement facilities.
An intersection (Gol-chattar) would also be built at Zero point to enhance the beauty of the town, he also said.
Executive engineer of RHD M Asaduzzaman said the development work of the regional highway from Zero point of Gaibandha town to Palashbari town would be done at a cost of Tk 157 crore.
A joint briefing meeting organised by district administration and the RHD was also held in this regard at the conference room of District Collectorate here with deputy commissioner (DC) Gautam Chandra Pal in the chair.
DC Gautam Chandra Pal urged all to come forward with positive attitude and help the concerned authorities to start the construction work and complete it properly and timely.
A large number of people including town elite, businessmen, political leaders and journalists of print and electronic media attended the meeting.
