‘Irsha’ to be staged on day II today

Popular theatre troupe Prangone Mor has arranged a weeklong theatre event under the title ‘‘Prangone Mor Natya Saptaho 2017’ (Prangone Mor Theatre Week) on the premise of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Segun Bagicha in the capital. Today, on the second day of the theatre week, the troupe will stage its much-acclaimed play titled ‘Irsha’ at 7pm at the BSA’s Music and Dance Centre Auditorium. Written by prolific playwright Syed Shamsul Haq and directed by theatre activist Ananta Hira, ‘Irsha’ is the eighth production of Prangone Mor, which falls in ‘musical theatre’, a form of theatre that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. The play portrays the abstract struggles and conflicts between man and man, art and art or even artist and artist. The play also features some complicated human relationships on stage, in an abstract way.

The set and multimedia presentation of the play has been designed by Shahinoor Rahman while Zillur Rahman sets the stage lights. Ramiz Raju composed the music and costume design has been done by Nuna Afroz.

The upcoming plays are--‘Shayma Prem’ (tomorrow), ‘Shesher Kobita’ (October 15), ‘Bibadi Sargam’ (October 16), ‘Awrangzeb’ (October 17) and finally, ‘Condemned Cell’ on the concluding day on October 18. Tickets will be available before the show in front of the hall. One can call at 01917 1136606 for advance ticket.
