
Eminent Nazrul Sangeet exponent Sujit Mustafa mesmerised the audience at a musical programme organised by Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) at Kabi Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbagh in the capital on Saturday.
At the musical show, Sujit Mustafa mesmerised the audience by rendering a number of popular songs like ‘Akul Holi Ken’, ‘Amar Aponar Cheye Apon Je Jon’, ‘Tomarei Ami Chahiachi Priyo’, ‘Shaono Rate Jodi’, ‘Sure o Banir’, ‘Amar Kon Kule, ‘Aruno Kanti Ke Go, ‘Ami Chirotore Dhure’ and ‘Mor Priya Hobe’.
During the entire programme, the singer was accompanied by Apurbo Das on tabla, Kamrul Ahmed on flute, Shahidul Islam on octopad, Binod Roy on keyboard and Md Nasiruddin on guitar.
Sujit Mustafa is the son of late Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal, who was a renowned poet, singer and composer. Born in Pabna, Sujit Mustafa received training in classical music from well-known gurus such as Pandit Vinod Kumar at the Gandharva Mahavidyaloya, New Delhi and Pandit Amarnath of Indore Gharana at the Shriram Bharatia Kala Kendra, New Delhi. He also completed a five-year certificate course in classical music from Chhayanaut, and has a diploma from Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Mustafa has released several albums such as ‘Amar Ganer Prothom Choronkhani’, ‘Onek Brishty Jhore’, and ‘Dure Bohudure’. He is the editor of a monthly magazine on Bangladesh’s national poet, Kazi Nazrul Islam. l
