Mostofa Sarwar Farooki-directed comedy drama film ‘Television’ will be screened today at 7:30pm at the National Art Plaza of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital. The film is scheduled to be screened as a part of the ongoing 16-day ‘Bangladesh Film Festival 2017’.
Besides, the festival will also screen ‘Rani Kuthir Baki Itihash’ directed by Samia Zaman and ‘Lathial’ by Narayan Ghosh Mita at the same venue of BSA and as well as 63 Districts Shilpakala Academy today at 3pm and 5:15pm respectively.
The film ‘Television’ portrays that, in a village in rural Bangladesh, Amin is the leader of the local community and bans every image he considers to be anti-islamic. He even claims that imagination is sinful and dangerous since it can wander into prohibited territory without permission… But change is difficult to resist, and in the end, the television that he hates so much, comes to the rescue, helping Amin to find a place where he and God are finally unified.
Starring Kazi Shahir Huda Rumi, Chanchal Chowdhury, Mosharraf Karim and Nusrat Imroz Tisha in various roles, the film was shot at the various locations of Chandpur, Laxmipur, Noakhali, and Dhaka.
The film received the Asian Project Market 2010 of the Busan Festiva and was selected as the Bangladeshi entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards.
