Former home secretary and current managing director of PKSF Md Abdul Karim, in a rejoinder denied having advised the Bangladesh High Commission to the United Kingdom in December 2008 to renew the passport of Tareq Rahman, reports BSS. The news was published on August 10, 2015 in a number of national dailies. "I did not give any verbal or written instruction to His Excellency the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the United Kingdom, neither did the High Commission seek one. What the High Commissioner did in December 2008 regarding renewal of Tareque Rahman's passport was done completely at his own discretion," the rejoinder said.
