Miscreants set off two crude bombs during a meeting of State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam with a college governing body in Charghat upazila yesterday night. However, no one was injured in the blasts, reports UNB. Officer-in-charge of Charghat Police Station Alamgir Hossain said the two crude bombs were hurled near the principal’s office of Sardah Degree College around 7:30pm while Shahriar Alam was holding the meeting in the office.
The meeting in the conference room, chaired by Alam, was on the appointment of a principal. The explosions took place beside the state minister’s car parked in front of the conference room of the college. While talking to reporters, the junior minister blamed BNP-Jamaat men for the blasts, saying they wanted to create panic among people.
“Jamaat, BNP had turned the Sardaha area into a sanctuary of terrorists for a long time. They carried out the bomb attack to create panic,” he said.
