‘Aynabaji’ to be screened at Shilpakala today

Celebrated Bangladeshi filmmaker Amitabh Reza Choudhury’s debut big screen venture ‘Aynabaji’, which has already participated in numerous international film festivals and earned appreciation worldwide, will be screened today at 7:30pm at the National  Art Plaza of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, as a part of the ongoing 16-day ‘Bangladesh Film festival 2017’. Besides, the festival will also screen ‘Meghla Akash’ directed by Nargis Akter and Songkhonad’ by Abu Sayeed at the same venue of BSA and 63 Districts Academy today at 3pm and 5:15pm respectively.

The film ‘Aynabaji’ revolves around Ayna, a struggling actor, finds that the only way to follow his passion is to take on the most difficult roles imaginable-imitating the well-connected in order to serve their prison sentences. Aynabaji is a study of the horrifying forces the impoverished must contend with survive in a world built upon their backs.

Popular actor Chanchal Chowdhury has played the main character. Besides the director, actress Nabila and singer-turned-actor Partha Barua made their film debut through the film.

During its one year journey, the film ‘Aynabaji’ was screened in the Marché du Film section of the 69th edition of Cannes Film Festival 2016,  won ‘Best Narrative Film’ award at the 11th edition of Seattle South Film Festival 2016 in the United States and won the Best Film award at the 16th Tele-Cine Award in Kolkata.
