Three kidnapping suspects were held by police after a ‘gunfight’, but later wounded by a ‘mob-beating’ at Churamankathi on the outskirts of Jessore town early yesterday, said Shikder Akkas Ali, officer in-charge of Kotwali police station.
However, residents of Churamankathi said they do not any incident of mob-beating there yesterday.
Three cases were filed with Jhikargachha and Kotwali police stations in this
connection.
The police claimed that three policemen, including the OC, were also wounded in the ‘gun-battle’ between the police and the
abductors.
Talking to newsmen, the OC claimed that the police rescued abducted truck driver Abdul Aziz and arrested the suspects Ashraful, Jahurul Islam of Hatjadabpur village and Rahmat Ali of Debbaria village under Moheshpur upazila in Jhenidah district.
The officer in-charge told the local journalist that the three were arrested by the police after a ‘gun-battle’ on way to Jessore from Jhikargachha on
Thursday night.
“The three then fell victim to mob-beating at Churamankathi on the outskirts of the town early yesterday,” the OC claimed.
The police recovered a one-shooter gun and a bullet from the possession of the
abductors, the police official further said.
