A press conference by seven  affiliated college of Dhaka University (DU) at Madhur Canteen demanding honours final year results of academic session 2011-2012 was held up by DU students along with the authorities yesterday. These seven colleges were affiliated on February 16 but the students took part in the final examination under National University (NU) from January 3 to February 11 this year before the affiliation.

After that  they took part two  months long viva voce under Dhaka University. They are claiming through a written statement that the NU has published the result while the DU hasn’t so far and that’s why they can’t took part in any job exam and they can’t took part in master’s program.

Kabi Nazrul Government College student Md. Shah Poran, spokesperson of the students  said, “As the seven colleges are affiliated under DU, we have the right to hold a press conference in theModhur canteen . But DU students and proctor hindered us”

“We went to Madhur Canteen to hold a press conference but DU proctor told us not to hold it in the campus claiming that it will make collision . We left the campus and formed it in front of National Museum, Shahbag.”

They had declared from the program to hold a protest rally in central Shaheed Minar and would submit a memorandum to the country’s president on next Sunday.

Acting DU proctor M Amzad Ali said, “We are taking to NU authorities to solve the problem but if they entered at the DU campus it could make collision between DU students and that’s why we have talk to hold the program at Shahid Minar.”

The affiliated colleges are - Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardi College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Begum Badrunnesa Govt. Women College, Mirpur Government Bangla College and Government Titumir College.
