Speakers at a discussion in Rajshahi unequivocally called for more investment in the country’s northwest region for bolstering its economy coupled with achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reports BSS. They viewed adequate industrialisation could be the effective means of more employment generation and the best uses of the surplus agricultural production in the region. To this end, they advocated for resolving the existing problems and obstacles so that an industrial environment is ensured that can encourage more investors from both home and abroad here.
They were addressing a district level view-sharing meeting titled ‘Private Sector Investment and SDGs Achievement’ held at conference hall of Deputy Commissioner yesterday.
Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and district administration jointly organised the meeting discussing ways and means on how to make the region economically solvent through proper investment and industrialisation.
More than 50 people consisting government and non-government officials concerned, businessmen and other stakeholders attended the meeting sharing their views on the issue.
