Biker killed in Natore
A man was killed as he fell off his bike after it got entangled in a rope trap in Haroya area of Boraigram upazila early yesterday, reports UNB from Natore.
The deceased was identified as Arif Hossain, a
resident of Tunipara village of the upazila and a local cloth trader.
Emran Hossain, officer-in-charge of Boraigram Police Station, said Arif along with a man, named Najmul, was going to a clinic in Bonpara Bazar by the motorbike around 1am. Suddenly, both of them fell off the bike as it got entangled in the rope trap which was allegedly set up by hijackers, leaving them injured.
The injured were rushed to Bonpara Clinic from where Arif was transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) as his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to his injuries early morning yesterday.

5 jailed over child marriage

A mobile court here on Thursday sentenced five people to different jail terms for arranging marriage of a 12-year-old girl at Bamni village in Akkelpur upazila, reports UNB from Joypurhat.
Ashraful Islam, officer-in-charge of Akkelpur Police Station, said Habibur Rahman, 22, son of Kafil Uddin of Balrampur village in Birampur upazila of Dinajpur district, was married with Jakia Sultana, 12, a class IV student of a local madrasah and daughter of Ziaul Islam of Akkelpur upazila in the district on Wednesday.
On information, a team of police intercepted a bus carrying the bridal party near Tulshiganga Bridge in sadar upazila and arrested four people, including the fathers of the bride and bridegroom, while returning to Dinajpur on Wednesday night.
Later, after investigation, a mobile court led by Akkelpur UNO Solam Mohammad Shahnewaz sentenced five people, including the fathers of the bride and bridegroom, to different jail terms on Thursday evening.

School sports, prize distribution function held

The annual sports, milad mahfil and prize distribution ceremony of the Government Primary School in Manikganj district town were held at the school ground on Thursday.
Mayor of Manikganj Municipality Mohammed Ramjan Ali attended the function as chief guest while the Secretary of the school managing committee
and Headmistress Firoza Khatun presided over the
function.
Senior teacher of the school Ruhul Amin conducted the function, where a total of 1800 students along with their guardians participated in the annual events.
The chief guest distributed prizes among the winners of the annual sports and the best students of each class for the brilliant results and securing of scholarships in last PSC examination.
