The National Mourning Day programmes began at Narail on Tuesday in a befitting manner. Narail district administration took up a four-day programme from August 12 to August 15 to observe the occasion.
The programme, includes quiz contest on Bangabandhu and Liberation War, recitation, music and essay competition,
discussion meeting, prize giving ceremony, drawing competition, documentary film show, debate competition, mourning rally, placing wreaths at the image of Bangabandhu and organising blood donation camp.
Besides, district and upazila units of Bangladesh Awami League, Chhatra League, Bangladesh Krishak League, Bangladesh Sramik League, Sechchhasebak League, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote will observe the day on August 15 with due solemnity.
Schools, colleges and madrsas of the district will arrange essay writing competition, discussion meeting, and drawing competition to mark the day.
Deputy Commissioner of Narail Helal Mahmud Sharif said: “Narail is all set to observe the National Mourning Day. It is hoped that about ten thousand of people will take part in the mourning rally on August 15.”
On the other hand, Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad (SWACHIP) will arrange a day-long programme on August 15 at the altar of Sadar Hospital Shaheed Minar.
Meanwhile, the inhabitants of 111 former Indian enclave inside Bangladesh have taken programmes to observe the 15th august, the National Mourning Day.
The people of the former enclaves will arrange special prayers in the mosques for the eternal peace of the departed soul of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Shiekh Mujibur Rahaman and his family members.
