The 65th presentation of ‘Nupur Beje Jai’, a bi-monthly dance programme by Shadhona Shangskritik Mondal to promote performing arts in Bangladesh aiming to give a platform to the local dancers, will be held at the main auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbag in the capital today.
In the first part of the presentation, Shadhona is going to present ‘Podda Behula Akkhan’- a unique contemporary adaptation of ‘Poddar Nachon’, the mythical tale of Goddess Manasa, presented by an ensemble of folk and urban performers; conceptualized by Shamim Hasan, choreographed by Shabbir Ahmed Biju and performed by the great folk dancer Sherebul.
The second half of the presentation is by Warda Rihab and her group ‘Dhriti’.
Shadhona has been working tirelessly for the past twenty-five years to promote the performing arts of South Asian Culture. Shadhona believes that performance is understood as an individual and communal act, which aims at the transcendence of everyday limits of consciousness, and, merely, through the process itself is capable of transforming the world we live in. Lubna Marium is the general secretary of Shadhona.
