A man was killed allegedly by his younger brother over a land related dispute at Labairkandhi village in Matlab Uttar upazila of the district on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Md Shafiullah Gazi, 70, a freedom fighter and a resident of the village.

Victim’s son Sagor Hossain said there was a dispute between his father (Shafiullah Gazi) and his uncle Rahman Gazi over pieces of land.

On the day of the incident they locked into an altercation over the issue. Following this dispute Rahman Gazi and his Son Badal attacked Shafiullah and caught his throat tightly, leaving him critically injured.

Later locals rescued him and sent to Matlab Uttar Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead. Md Ibrahim, sub-inspector of Matlab Uttar Police Station said on information police recovered the body and sent to Chandpur Sadar Hospital Morgue for an autopsy.
