The six-day sixth National Youth Drama Festival has begun on the premises of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Segun Bagicha in the capital yesterday.
Presided over by Director General of BSA and founder of People’s Theatre Organization (PTA) Liaquat Ali Lucky, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury inaugurated the festival.
Cultural Affairs Secretary Ibraheem Hosein Khan, theatre personality Ataur Rahman and secretary general of Bangladesh Group Federation Aktaruzzaman were present as special guests at the inaugural ceremony.
After the opening ceremony, Jhenidah Polytechnic Institute brought their play ‘Swapna Grohon’, directed by Arif Al Azad, on the stage at the National Theatre Hall of BSA.
However, as the part of the sixth National Youth Drama Festival, workshop, clown show, theatre games, performance art, illustration art and a youth cultural congress have been arranged on the festival premises.
The festival will continue till on October 5 and five dramas will be staged each day at the Studio Theatre Hall and National Dance and Music Centre Auditorium of BSA. A total of nine universities and 18 youth drama troupes is participating in the festival.
