PM recovering well: Joy

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who underwent a successful gallbladder surgery in the US capital of Washington on Monday, is now recovering well. “She is now recovering well,” PM’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy today said in his Facebook post, reports BSS.

Joy, also the ICT adviser to the prime minister, wrote: “My mother underwent the surgery on Monday night to remove her gallbladder ... the surgery was performed by a surgeon friend of mine at a local hospital.” He also said it went extremely well and she came home the very next morning.

Joy also wrote: “Today is also her birthday. We will not be doing much since she is still mostly on bed rest.” He thanked all for their concerns regarding the prime minister’s health.

“I want to thank everyone for all their concerns regarding her health as well as for her birthday wishes ... she is doing well,” Joy added.

Sheikh Hasina travelled to Washington from New York on September 22 after attending the 72nd session of the UNGA.

“She will return home on October 5,” PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told the news agency from Washington on Wednesday.
