Natore: A court here yesterday convicted a man and sentenced him to life term imprisonment for killing his wife in 2003, reports UNB. The convict is Ayub Ali, 36, of Bildahar village in Singra upazila. According to the prosecution, Ayub Ali took his wife Bilkis Begum to Dhaka and forced his wife to get involved in sex trade. As Bilkis refused to do that he sent his wife to their village home. On December 12, 2003, Ayub Ali went to his village home and killed his wife over the issue. A case was filed in this connection. Police submitted chargesheet against three persons. After examining the records and witnesses Natore District and Sessions Judge Rezaul Karim handed down the verdict and acquitted two others as allegation brought against them could not be proved.
