Bangladesh honed their skills and techniques with bat and ball in the last two days of the three-day practice match at the Willowmoore Park in Benoni before stepping into Test series against the high-ranked South Africa.

The tourists declared their first innings at 306 for seven with the help of three half-centuries struck by Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim and Sabbir Rahman. Mominul topscored for Tigers with 68 off 73, hitting nine boundaries before being caught behind by Heinrich Klaasen off Michael Cohen.

Bangladesh Test skipper Mushfiqur made 85-ball 63 with eight fours, while Sabbir was at stumps on 58. He clattered nine boundaries in his 89-ball knock.

In reply, South African Invitational XI got opportunity to bat six overs in the Day-1, whereby they put on 21 for one. Isaac Dikgale got out for 12 having run-out by Sabbir Rahman.

Subhashis Roy and Shafiul Islam stunned the local side on the outset of the day-2 when the duo sent back Y Valli and Leus du Plooy. Then Mustafizur Rahman, Mehedi Hasan Miraj and Taskin Ahmed got rid of Klaasen, Zubayr Hamza and Matthew Breetzke.

Of them, Zubayr topscored with 60. Although Breetzke (44) missed his fifty, Matthew Christensen cracked 53 before being trapped. S von Berg was 47 not out.

Till filling of the report, the local side compiled 251 for seven in 84.4 overs. Shafiul Islam, who was the most successful bowlers among the visitors, claimed a brace. Mustafizur, Subhashis, Taskin and Miraj took one wicket each.
