CHITTAGONG: Chittagong Awami League has completed all preparations for holding ‘Chittagonian traditional Mezban’ at Tungipara of Gopalgonj district on the occasion of 39th martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15, reports BSS.
Former Chittagong City Mayor and President of Chittagong City Awami League (AL) ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury has been organizing the Mezban for years.
A 135-member advance party, led by Mohammad Osman Gani, personal secretary of ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, reached Tungiparar yesterday.
The main segment of the party comprised of over 300 leaders, workers of the city Awami League, led by its President ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, will leave Chittagong for Gopalgonj from Jamiatul Falah complex Thursday night.City AL source said over 62 sacrificial animals including 32 cows, 30 goats and other commodities have been bought by the advance party. Decoration and other Mezban related works are going on in full swing and all the work will be complete before August 14, the source added.
