Gazipur, August 12: A girl who had been abducted from Joydebpur in Gazipur on August 3 was rescued from Kalshi Bazar in capital on Monday. The victim was identified as Reshma Akter Moni,16.
A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-1) rescued her from a room of a house owned by one Motlab Miah of Kalshi Bazar.
RAB-1 sources said Reshma Akter Moni was abducted from Joydebpur in Gazipur on August 3. The abductors demanded Tk5 lakh as ransom from the victim’s sister Fatema Begum over mobile phone. They threatened to kill the victim if the family members did not pay the demanded money.
Later, Fatema Begum filed a complaint to RAB-1 headquarters at Uttara in Dhaka. Using modern technology, a team of RAB-1, led by Additional Superintendent of Police Mohiul Islam, conducted a raid at Noyatola in Moghbazar of the capital and arrested an alleged abductor identified as Mohammed Moslem Uddin , 24, from a house. Later following Moslem Uddin’s statement the elite force arrested Mohammed Jewel ,17, son of late Juran Ali hailing from Sobornatoli of Tangail district, raiding a house at Khilkhet in the capital. According to their statements, RAB-1 members then rescued Reshma conducting a raid on a house at Kalshi Bazar in the capital.
