RANGPUR: Speakers at a meeting have stressed for strict enforcement of the amended Tobacco Control Act (TCA) in public places to save thousands of nonsmokers from indirect smoking and human lives, reports BSS.
They put special emphasis on creating public awareness about harms of using smoking and nonsmoking tobacco products and tobacco-related diseases those have been killing millions of people in the globe annually posing a real threat to human civilisation. Association for Community Development (ACD) and Rangpur Tobacco Control Coalition (RTCC) jointly organised the meeting for preparing annual plan on controlling smoking and using tobacco products on Tuesday at ACD Office in the city.
Bloomberg Philanthropies, Campaign for Tobacco- Free Kids, and Consortium for Smoke Free Rajshahi and Rangpur Divisions assisted in arranging the annual planning meeting. With Focal Person of RTCC Shushanto Bhowmick in the chair, Project coordinator of ACD Ehsanul Amin Emon narrated harmful impacts of using smoking and nonsmoking tobacco products and the situation with enforcement of the amended TCA.
