Netrakona: The body of a teenage girl, who allegedly committed suicide a day after being raped at Thakurkona village in Sadar upazila, has been exhumed for fresh autopsy, reports UNB.
Following an order of Netrakona court, the body of Panna Akhter was exhumed from the graveyard of the village at noon in the presence of Saida Parvin, executive magistrate of the district administration, and Sanwar Hossain, additional superintendent of police.
Following a petition filed by Inspector (investigation) Shah Nur-e-Alam of Netrakona Model Police Station, also investigation officer of a case filed over the rape and provoking Panna to commit suicide, the court of judicial magistrate Rukonuzzaman passed the order.
Besides, two arrested accused Koushik Sarker Apu, 23, agricultural affairs deputy secretary of district unit BCL, and Mamun Miah Akond, 26, gave confessional statement before a court on Wednesday evening.
Judicial Magistrate Syed Abdullah Al Habib and judicial magistrate Julfikar Ali Rony recorded the statements of Koushik and Mamun Miah respectively.
On Monday, police arrested Mamun, son of Gafur Miah of the village, from Birishiri area in Durgapur upazila.
According to the case statement, Panna allegedly committed suicide on September 4 after being raped on September 3.
Victim’s mother Alpana Akter filed the case against three people for rape and provoking her daughter to commit suicide.
Another accused of the case is Sultan, 22, son of late Chan Miah of the same village.
