Just a few months ago, veteran actor and freedom fighter Ziaul Hasan Kislu has retired from teaching. His career in teaching came to an end as a professor at Tularam Government College in Narayanganj this year. Kislu’s teaching life began back in 1984 at the Darshana Government College.
Kislu engaged himself in acting before he started his profession in teaching. He has been involved with the theatre troupe Nagorik Natya Sampradaya since 1982. On behalf of this troupe, he performed in the prominent plays like ‘Dewan Gazir Kissa’, ‘Nuruldiner Sara Jibon’ and Galileo’. He also performed in the play titled ‘Pholaphol Ninmachap’, which was written and directed by Mamtaz Uddin Ahmad. Moreover, Kislu acted in the drama with the same title when Abdullah Al Mamun had made it for Bangladesh Television (BTV). ‘Pholaphol Ninmachap’ was the first TV play for Kislu. On the other hand, his first drama serial was ‘Ramizer Ayna’ directed by Shihab Shaheen.
After his retirement from teaching, Kislu is now spending more time in acting than before. As a result, the actor was seen in several tele-dramas during last Eid-ul-Azha, these are— ‘Tumi Plus Ami’, ‘100 percent Prem’, ‘Agachha’ and ‘Bhai Boon Abasik’. He is currently acting in two ongoing drama serials ‘Sukhi Mirganj’ directed by Sumon Anwar and ‘Family Fantasy’ directed by Ananya.
Ziaul Hasan Kislu said, “Mamtaz Uddin Ahmad sir and noted actor-director Aly Zaker are two respected persons who are the source of my inspiration in theatre. I had the opportunity of working under the direction of both iconic thespians—this is a matter of immense happiness for me. I have retired from teaching a few days ago. Now I can manage enough time for acting, and I am enjoying acting more than before.”
