The BNP said yesterday (Thursday) that allegations of money laundering against party chairperson Khaleda Zia and her family members were "false". The allegations were raised in Parliament to hide the government’s diplomatic failure in dealing with the Rohingya issue and divert the attention of the people, the party countered. “The government is lying about the Zia family," BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told a press conference at the party's central office. The BNP leader termed Sheikh Hasina’s allegation against the Zia family as "false, fabricated and baseless". He demanded an apology from the Prime Minister for her remarks. Fakhrul was giving the party's reaction on Sheikh Hasina's statement in Parliament.
