Anisul still believes govt can succeed

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq yesterday said he still thinks that the government will be successful in the case brought over the 16th amendment  to the Constitution, reports UNB. “I still think that we insh’Allah (God willing) will be successful in the legal proceedings over the case of the 16th amendment,” he told Parliament replying to a supplementary question from Jatiya Party lawmaker Fakhrul Imam (Mymensingh-8).

Fakhrul in his question said when the High Court passed down judgment over 16th amendment, the law minister told Parliament that the government will definitely win in the Supreme Court challenging the High Court verdict. As that didn’t happen, he wanted to know the minister’s latest remarks on the matter after judgment of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court. Anisul said

being a part of the case, he had made the remark in the House after the verdict of the High Court. “I had said that we’ll definitely win the legal battle. But it is up to the Appellate Division what judgment it will deliver,” he added.
