The home ministry has formed a 'Rohingya cell' at the home ministry's public security division, headed by an additional secretary of the ministry, to monitor ongoing situation of Myanmar citizen who took shelter in Cox’s Bazar. Deputy Secretary (DS) of the public security division of the home ministry has issued a notification in this regard yesterday. According to the notification, additional secretary (political) of public security division Md Samsur Rahman will carry out duty as chief coordinator and joint secretary Md Shafiqur Rahman will discharge his duty as coordinator of the cell.
Besides them, three DSs Abu Hena Mostafa Zaman, Mohammad Faroque-Uz-Zaman and Manir Hossain Chowdhury will carry out their duties as ‘focal point’ of the cell, the notification added.
So far, at least 300,000 Rohingyas have entered into Bangladesh after the Myanmar military launched a crackdown following attacks by the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) on 30 police posts and an army base on August 25.
