Doctors at the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) are set to perform the third operation on the right hand of Muktamoni, a 12-year-old girl from Satkhira, today for the complete removal of a tumour in her right-hand blood vessel, said DMCH sources.
“We've made preparations for the operation tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. The remaining part of the tumour will be removed in the operation,” said Dr Samanta Lal Sen, national coordinator of the DMCH's Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit, yesterday.
Dr Sen said they were fully prepared for the operation, which would begin at 8:30am. More surgeries might be needed to completely cure the girl, he added.
Asked whether the operation would be complicated, Dr Sen said every surgery was a complex job, but everything depended on the will of God.
On August 29, a partial surgery was performed on Muktamoni’s right hand. It could not be completed because the child was suffering from fever.
On August 12, doctors at the DMCH had successfully completed the first surgery on the girl's haemangioma tumour.
Muktamoni was admitted to the DMCH on July 11. The doctors then did a biopsy and found a tumour in her right-hand blood vessels.
