PM urges all to work to keep up progress

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday urged all to work with dedication and sacrifice so that the country can keep up its ongoing progress and stand midst world community with dignity, reports BSS. “Bangladesh is our beloved motherland. So everybody should work with utmost sincerity and devotion so that our country can continue its journey towards progress and prosperity and stand in the world community with dignity,” she said.

The prime minister was talking to media after exchanging greetings with party leaders and workers and cross section of people on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Azha at her official residence Ganabhaban in the capital yesterday.

Sheikh Hasina, also the Awami League president, said the Eid-ul-Azha is a unique example of sacrifice for the welfare of the mankind. " Eid-ul-Azha teaches us for the sacrifice and it’s the duty of every human being to remain ready for any sacrifice for mankind," she said

The premier said Bangladesh is progressing fast economically and the government wants to keep up the progress. "I want to see that Bangladesh will live in the world as a dignified nation keeping its head high which was the main essence of the independence,” she said.

Extending her greetings to the countrymen and Hajj pilgrims, Sheikh Hasina said, “This country is ours. So we have to build up the country as a prosperous one as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”

“Bangladesh is moving ahead economically and it will continue its progress Insha Allah,” she added.

While talking about the the recent flood, the prime minister said her government has tackled the deluge successfully. "We've taken all measures for the flood-affected people for their rehabilitation including constructing of new homes," she said, asserting that there won't be a single person to remain homeless in Bangladesh.

She said the the Father of the Nation wanted to fulfil the basic rights of the people. After coming to power, Awami League is making constant efforts to materialize his dream, she said, adding the countrymen are enjoying the benefit of the successes of the government.

Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh is now a role model of development with its economic growth of over 7.24 percent and increased per capital income. Country’s poverty rate reduced to 22 percent and it will further come down.

“By 2021, we will be able to make Bangladesh a hunger and poverty-free nation and it’s our goal,” she said.

The prime minister reiterated her call to protect the society from militancy and urged the guardians, teachers, imams and other religious leaders as well as cross section of people to remain careful so that the youngsters are not derailed and involved in such a social menace.

Expressing her high optimism to build Bangladesh as a developed and peaceful country in South Asia by 2021, Sheikh Hasina said, “Bangladesh is moving forward and Insha Allah it will go ahead in the way to prosperity.”

Bangabandhu’s youngest daughter Sheikh Rehana, PM’s daughter Saima Wazed Hossain, Awami League leaders Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Faruk Khan, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Dr Dipu Moni, Abdus Sobhan Golap, Ashim Kumar Ukil, Sujit Roy Nandi and Biplob Barua were present, among others, on the occasion.

Later, the prime minister exchanged Eid greetings with the judges of the Supreme Court and head of diplomatic missions of different countries in Bangladesh.

Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, judges of the Appellate Division and High Court Divisions of the Supreme Court and ambassadors and high commissioners of different countries joined the function.
