Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan Papon announced Taka two crore as the bonus for the team for their jaw-dropping victory in the Dhaka Test against the top-notch Australia.
Bangladesh received four crore taka from ICC for playing at the semifinal stage of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy overtaking the big teams the likes of Australia and New Zealand in the pace and bounce-friendly wickets.
Papon also said that they will distribute all Tk six crore within tomorrow ahead the holy Eid-ul-Azha, which is knocking at the door as it will be celebrated on September 2.
“ICC gave us four crore taka for playing at the semifinal stage of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy,” said Nazmul Hasan.
“Along with this money, we will distribute other two crore taka for the team for their brilliant performance and victory against the Australian side in Dhaka Test,” Papon told media after the end of the opening Test, which was ended within four days.
Bangladesh had so many challenges ahead of them to promote to the elite club of the high-ranked teams. Of them, they had challenge to win Test against ‘Big Teams’ following their surprising surge in one-day crickets for the last two and half-a-years. Along with that, they had challenge to tour in India to play Test match at their grounds.
The BCB president said that they are overcoming gradually the challenges they had ahead of them.
“After the surge in one-day, it was being told especially TV talk show to do well in Test. We’re yet to reach at that level in Test. Even we don’t show more interest in that way in Test also,” he said.
“Then we had challenge to play against India going there in their own ground. We toured there and played better cricket against India that was appreciated from all the fronts,” he also said.
“Gradually the confidence has been starting to grow inside us that we could play better cricket in Test. And then we won against England and Sri Lanka. We could not win the series. Actually we had done our primary target to win match against big teams,” he added.
The BCB boss said that they have set an immediate target to win Test series against the big guns of the Test arc.
“Now our target is to win series against these big team. Already we have drawn against England and Sri Lanka but we could win the series. But this time if we could win the series against Australia then our immediate target will be fulfilled. And then we will have no expectation left barring winning the World Cup,” he viewed.
When asked is it possible to increase the number of Test matches after such sort of victory against the top-flight team, Nazmul said that they will not be able to arrange new schedule as they have so many tight schedule under the current FTP.
“The schedule we have under the future tour’s programme (FTP) it’s difficult for us to accommodate for the new games,” he responded.
