Five people were killed in separate road accidents in Satkhira, Faridpur and Gaibandha districts yesterday. In Satkhira, a woman was killed after being hit by a bus in Trishmile area on Satkhira-Khulna highway of the district yesterday. The deceased was identified as Fatima Khatun, 52, of Jugipukuria village in Tala upazila. Police said a bus of Hanif Paribahan ran over Fatima Khatun while she was walking along the highway at Trishmile at around 2pm, leaving her dead on the spot. In Faridpur, a woman and a child were killed as a Jessore-bound microbus hit them on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Bagat area of sadar upazila yesterday morning. The deceased was identified as Sohan, 8, and Salma, 30. Ruhul Amin, OC of Modhukhali police station, said the microbus hit the duo at 11:30am, leaving Sohan dead on the spot and Salma critically injured. Salma was rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. In Gaibandha, two people were killed after their bus collided with a truck on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Bhaperhat area of Sadullapur upazila. The deceased are Jahidul, 46, and Mizan, 35.
