A total of 20 students from various departments of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded "Md. Nurul Islam Memorial Trust Fund" scholarship for their outstanding academic results, reports BSS. Dhaka University Vice-chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed scholarships among the students as chief guest at a function held on Sunday at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
DU Treasurer Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin presided over the function while Member of the Trusty Board Poet Ruby Rahman addressed it as special guest. DU Acting Registrar Syed Rezaur Rahman conducted the programme.
Vice-chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique urged the brilliant students to make themselves worthy citizen by utilising their merits properly.
He said students have to equip themselves with honesty, patriotism and moral values. He paid glowing tributes to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the month of August. He said, students have to take lessons from the ideals of Bangabandhu to make Bangladesh a prosperous country.
The recipients of scholarships are Joya Roy, Asha Dey, Md Selim Rana, Md Abdullah AL Noman, Asif Ahmed, Paddashri Roy, Amit Sarkar, Obayedul Haque, Md Rubel Hossain, Mamunur Rahsid, Kamrul Islam, Md Sumon Pradan, Md Fazle Rabbi, Suchita Sarkar, Sikder Hasib Reza, Shamsunnahar, Md Raminul Islam Refat, Mirza Ashiq, Subarna Mursheda and M Sazzadul Islam.
