Kanthashilon staged the second show of their new play ‘Jadur Latim’ at the National theatre Hall of Bangladesh shilpakala Academy (BSA), Segun Bagicha in the capital yesterday. Based on Egyptian Nobel Laureate Naguib Mahfouz’s novel ‘Arabian Nights and Days’, Rafik Hariri has dramatised the play ‘Jaguar Latim’ and professor Mir Barakat has directed the play.
About the play director Mir Barkat said, “Egyptian Nobel Laureate Naguib Mahfouz wrote his novel ‘Arabian Nights and Days’ based on the medieval story collection ‘The Arabian Nights’. Rafik Hariri translated some parts of the novel and dramatized the play. Though the play has been written based on medieval incidents, but the writer draws present time politics, social incidents, personal conflicts parallelly.”
‘Jadur Latim’ an allegorical-social drama running for one and a half hour, tells about two nefarious jinns named Ifrid and Kufrid. Ifrid roaming around in the veins of the people and Kufrid create chaos, doubt and disbelief in the minds of people by misinterpreting them about religion.
The cast of the play includes Rais-ul-Islam, Mostofa Kamal, AKM Shahidullah Kaiser, Sohel Rana, Salam Khokon, Ananya Goswami and more.
Earlier, the premiere show of the play staged at the same venue on Friday. President of Sammilita Sanskritik Jote Golam Kuddus and secretary general of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation Akhtaruzzaman were present at the maiden show of the play.
