UNESCO consultant meets DU VC
Consultant of Culture and Development Programme of UNESCO Indrasen Vencatachellum today paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique at his office on the campus.
Chairman of Theatre and Performance Studies Department Sudip Chakraborty was present in the meeting, said a DU press release.
During the meeting, they stressed the need for strengthening cultural relationship among the various countries to establish peace and harmony in the world, the release added.
The UNESCO Consultant expressed his willingness to provide support and cooperation for development of professional skills and cultural heritage in Bangladesh.
The progress of academic and research activities on fine arts, crafts, music, dance and culture at Dhaka University were also discussed in the meeting.
KUET approves Tk 65.80 crore revenue budget
KHULNA: The authorities of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) yesterday approved a budget of Taka 65.80 crore for the 2017-18 fiscal year.
The budget was approved at the syndicate meeting of the university. The budget was proposed as per decision of KUET's budget managing committee held on May 25.
The syndicate also approved revised budget of Taka 62.50 crore for 2016-17 fiscal.
Syndicate members were attended the meeting with KUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammed Alamgir in the chair.
NU postpones degree, certificate course exams for flood
National University (NU) has postponed its degree pass and certificate course examinations scheduled for August 19, 20 and 21 due to floods in the country.
Fresh schedules for the exams will be published later, said an official release here today.
National Mourning Day observed at Gono Bishwabidyalay
National Mourning Day and the 42th death anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed on Wednesday at Gono Bishwabidyalay, says a press release.
Marking the day, the Gono Bishwabidyalay authorities organised a discussion meeting at its own campus. Gono Bishwabidyalay’s Vice-chancellor (current) Prof Doctor Laila Parveen Banu presided over the programme.
Benazir Ahmed, president of Dhaka District Awami League, Kazi Shawkat Hossain Sahin vice president of Dhaka District Awami League, Prof Dr Md Delwar Hossain, Pro vice-chancellor of Gono Bishwabidyalay, Prof Mesbahuddin Ahmad, former vice-chancellor, Md Delower Hossain, Registrar, Dr Hasin Anupama Azhari, Dean, Faculty of Physical & Mathematical Sciences and Shamim Hossain, former VP of Student Union spoke on the occasion among others. Later a milad mahfil was organised for seeking eternal peace of Bangabandhu and martyrs of August 15.
‘Cleaning campus will improve environment’
RANGPUR: Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, BTFO, has said the initiative for keeping the campus clean would play positive contribution to improve environment.
“The campus cleaning initiative members of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) would also create a positive trend in the society,” Kalimullah said as the chief guest while inaugurating cleanliness programme in the campus on recenlty.
The BRUR unit of BCL launched the clean campus campaign as a part of the month-long programmes in observance of the National Mourning Day-2017 and 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said a press release.
Presided over by BRUR unit BCL President Abu Monnaf Al Kibria Tushar, its General Secretary Kamrul Hassan Nobel, among others, addressed the function participated by a large number of BCL activists and students of the university.
Highly lauding the initiatives of the students, Professor Kalimullah called upon the teachers, students, officials and employees of the university to make the cleanliness movement successful for making a clean campus and improving environment.
