Imran H Sarkar among 5 injured in ‘BCL’ attack

Five activists of Ganajagaran Manch, including its spokesperson Imran H Sarkar, were injured in an attack allegedly by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men at Shahbagh intersection in the capital yesterday evening, reports UNB. Witnesses said a group of BCL leaders and activists, led by Abdullah Al-Masud Limon, general secretary of Dhaka University's Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall unit, swooped on Imran when he was collecting relief materials in front of the National Museum for the flood-affected people.

"I along with other activists of Ganajagaran Manch was receiving relief materials from people when a group of miscreants approached us and swooped on us with stamps and hockey sticks," Imran told UNB. He said at least five activists, including himself, received injuries in the attack.

Contacted, Limon denied the allegation of his involvement in the attack, saying he heard about the incident. "I was in the Senate Bhaban when the incident took place. General students might have carried out the attack out of anger as he had chanted defamatory slogans about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina few days back," Limon told UNB.
