NARSINGDI: The cultivation of T-Aman paddy has begun in all the six upazilas of the district during the current season, reports BSS. Due to a favorable climate condition and sufficient rain falls, farmers of the district are now working round the clock in their paddy fields for transplanting T-Aman seedlings. According to Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources, a total of 40,511 hectares of land would be brought under T-Aman paddy cultivation (BRRI-11, 22, 30, 32, 34, 39, 49 and BINNA-7 verities) in the district this season.
Of the total 31,010 hectares of land would be brought under High Yielding Variety (HYV) of the paddy and 9,501 hectares are under local variety.
Deputy director of DAE Latapat Hossain told BSS that farmers of the district in the meantime have already transplanted seedlings on about 10 percent of the total targeted land.
He said Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) has so far distributed 380 tonnes of seeds among the farmers and there is no shortage of T-Aman seedlings in the district.
