The month of mourning begins

August, the month when the nation lost its greatest leader Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975, began yesterday, reports UNB. A group of disgruntled army officers killed Bangabandhu along with most of his family members on August 15, 1975.
Ruling Awami League and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) have chalked out a month-long programme on the occasion. The programmes began with a candle-lit vigil at one-minute past zero hours in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the city and two halls of Dhaka University.
Krishak League organised a blood-donation and discussion programme that was inaugurated and addressed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
