‘Oggatonama’ wins best film award in Cambodia

‘Oggatonama’ (The Unnamed, a much-talked about Bangladeshi film directed by Tauquir Ahmed and produced by Impress Telefilm, won the best film award at the 57th Asia-Pacific Film Festival in Cambodia. The film earlier bagged quite a number of prestigious awards in the various festivals across the globe.

Organised by Federation of Motion Producer in Asia Pacific, the three-day festival took place at Phnom Penh and the award ceremony held on the last day of the festival on July 30.

Managing Director of Impress Telefilm Ltd and Channel i Faridur Reza Sagor received the award for ‘Oggatonama’. Cultural personality and entrepreneur Kona Reza and filmmaker Golam Rabbani also attended the award ceremony.

A number of five films were submitted to the festival; among those, ‘Oggatonama’ was nominated for Best Film, Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor categories. Alongside Bangladeshi film, films from India, Nepal, Japan, Vietnam, South Korea, Australia, Russia, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Hongkong, Taipei, Indonesia, Iran, Philippines, Sri Langka and Mongolia participated in the festival.

To note, ‘Oggatonama’ earlier won the Special Mention Award at the 19th edition of Religion Today Film Festival 2016 in Trento, Italy. It won a special jury mention at the Gulf of Naples Independent Film Festival on May 21 in 2016 and Tauquir Ahmed won best film director award for the film in the Kosova Film Festival titled ‘Goddess on the Throne’. The film saw its world premiere at Marche du Film, the business counterpart of the 69 Cannes Film Festival on May 17 last year.
