Take steps over allegation of land grabbing by ministers, MPs

Awami League senior leader Suranjit Sengupta on Friday urged Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to take necessary steps over the allegation of grabbing of minority communities’ land by some ministers, whips MPs, reports UNB. “Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council brought allegations against some ministers, whips MPs that they are grabbing land of minority communities. It is very mush unfortunate that they are involved in land grabbing” he said. Suranjit, also a ruling-AL advisory council member, came up with the remarks yesterday while addressing a discussion on the country's contemporary politics organized by Bangabandhu Academy at the Institute of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh. On August 7 Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council brought some specific allegations of grabbing properties of minority communities against some ministers, whips and MPs, including LGRD Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain, Whip Mahabub Ara Begum Gini, and Thakurgaon MP Dabirul Islam and Pirojpur lawmaker AKMA Awal, at a press conference. Suranjit said, “Unity council is a very renowned and traditional organisation. If such an organization places some specific allegations that means it’s a very serious issue.” The AL leader urged demanded impartial investigation into the allegation and urged the Prime Minister to take necessary steps in this regard. Expressing his concern over various child repression incidents in recent time the former minister said such incidents are tarnishing the image of the country.
