Four killed in Munshiganj road crashes

Four people were killed and 26 others injured in three road accidents in Sreenagar and Louhajang upazilas yesterday, reports UNB. In Sreenagar, a bus plunged into a pond at Shologhar on Dhaka-Mawa highway at noon, killing two people and injuring at least 20 others. The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. In-charge of Hachara Highway Police Camp sergeant Mohammad Hasan said the Dohar-bound bus carrying 60 passengers skidded off the road and fell into the roadside pond around 1:15pm as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving two dead on the spot. Forty passengers of the bus were rescued by local people. An unidentified young man, aged 25, was killed and five people were injured as a bus plunged into a roadside beel (water body) at Samashpur in Sreenagar in the morning. In another accident in Louhajang, motorcyclist Jiaur Rahman, 33, son of Rafiqul Islam of Mondalpara in Chapainawabganj district, was killed as a pickup van rammed him at Shimulia in the morning.
