The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) investigation team has finalised the investigation report against 16 men belonging to Narail and Sherpur. The team gathered preliminary evidence against them for crimes against humanity committed during the 1971 Liberation War.
“We have found evidence against 16 men from Narail and Sherpur for their involvement in wartime offences. They were involved with the Razakar Bahini and committed mass killings, murders, abduction, looting and arson in Narail and Sherpur in 1971,” Sanaul Huq, senior co-coordinator of the ICT's investigation team, told reporters at his Dhanmondi office in Dhaka yesterday (Thursday).
He said charges have been brought against the 16 in two separate petitions. "We will submit the report before the prosecution team by today. The prosecution team will place it before the tribunal later," he added.
Twelve Narail men are accused in a case, while four of Sherpur are accused in another case, he said.
