A two-day international water conference begins in the capital tomorrow, aiming at discussing water issues and find possible solutions to water-related problems, reports UNB.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the event, ‘Dhaka Water Conference 2017’, at Sonargaon Hotel tomorrow morning. Some 82 representatives from 23 countries—South Asia, South-East Asia, East Asia and delta collation region—will participate in the conference.
The conference is expected to discuss water supply, sanitation, sharing experience, identifying problems and finding their solutions to attain the target of Sustainable Development Goals 6 (SDG-6).
Apart from the inaugural session, four thematic sessions will be held during the two-day conference. The sessions will focus on integrated water resource management, universal access to drinking water, valuing water, sanitation, water pollution and water security. On the last day, the conference will adopt the Dhaka Declaration.
