Trader, day labourer hacked to death

A cattle trader and a day labourer were hacked to death in Chapainawabganj and Mymensingh districts yesterday and on Monday.

Our Chapainawabganj correspondent reports: A cattle trader was hacked to death allegedly by his rivals in a mango orchard at Housenagar village in Bholahat upazila of Chapainawabganj district yesterday.

The deceased was Bulu, 26, of the aforesaid area.

Officer-in-charge of Bholahat police station Fasir Uddin said Bulu was talking to a group of cattle traders including Rakibul in a mango orchard at Housenagar village around 12:30pm regarding their business. At one stage, they engaged in an altercation and hacked Bulu with a machete leaving him seriously injured. Afterwards, they fled from the scene.

Later, his relatives rescued and sent him to upazila health complex where he succumbed to his injuries around 1:50pm.

On information, police recovered the dead body and sent it to Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Filing of a murder case was under process, the OC added.

Our Mymensingh correspondent adds: Unidentified criminals hacked a day labourer to death in Bangnamari Boira Bazar area of Gouripur upazila on Monday.

The victim was Morshed Ali, 35, of village Bangnamari.

Delwar Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Gouripur police station said Morshed who used to work at Mymensingh town’s Mechhua Bazar as a labourer was returning home on Monday night. When he reached Bangnamari Boira Bazar area, some unidentified criminals hit him with sharp weapons leaving him dead on the spot.
